Veni Villarimo is a longstanding volunteer at the East Maui Animal Refuge. Also known as The Boo Boo Zoo, this all volunteer-run nonprofit is a no-kill refuge and rehabilitation sanctuary for injured and orphaned animals who would otherwise die. They rescue, protect and care for a variety of animals including cats, goats, deer, birds and pigs. Thanks to volunteers like Veni, they have been operating in Haiku for over 30 years.
Veni’s work includes rescuing and caring for animals in need of help. Although she has a special affinity for cats, Veni cares about the well-being of every animal. She chooses to remain in the shadows, but her efforts have not gone unnoticed. Aside from tending to the treatment and care for animals, Veni is always offering a helping hand. From spending days and nights cleaning to clearing fallen trees after an emergency flood, she always puts the needs of others before her own.
Veni is more than deserving of this nomination. Her passion for caring and loving all animals deserves support from the world. The East Maui Animal Refuge wishes to thank her for her hard work and recognize her for the inspiration she is.
