Wendy L. Stebbins, MPH, Volunteer Center Coordinator
What I do: Capacity Building for local non profit volunteer programs and professional development in volunteer leadership and management. Optimum development of volunteerism, including recruitment and effective utilization of volunteers to meet community needs. Assist agencies to understand the role of the Volunteer Center is to support their respective missions/services through volunteer resource development.
About me: After getting my B. S. from the University of Iowa, I worked as the Recreation Director for a long term care facility in Honolulu, HI. Following this position I continued my career in Volunteer Management at the Waikiki Health Center, managing a Friendly Neighbor Program for isolated elderly in Waikiki. I became aware of the public health concerns of the elderly and sought my Masters in Public Health at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Moving to Maui in 2000, I held positions with the County of Maui, Office on Aging and Grants Management Division. In 2007 I became the County of Maui’s Volunteer Center, Volunteer Coordinator.
Involved with State wide volunteer advocacy and initiatives, Wendy served as the 2013 Hawaii Network of Volunteer Leaders Vice President. She is currently serving as the 2014 President of the Hawaii Network of Volunteer Leaders.
I am an avid runner and enjoy watching movies and TV with my husband, the best volunteer in the world!
