It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are here, and for most of us, it’s a time to give thanks, spend time with loved ones and get involved with the community. However, for some, the holiday season can be a very difficult and lonely time. The good news is that all it takes is a little bit of your time to bring some holiday cheer to those in need. Are you ready to volunteer but not sure where to start? Here are five ideas to get you started and are easy for everyone to do.
Volunteer with Animals.
Volunteer for the Holidays!
The need for volunteers at animal shelters is constant, but why not use the holidays as a reason to get involved. From fostering animals to taking the shelter animals on daily walks, our fury friends need and deserve love every day of the year. Contact the Maui Humane Society or H.A.R.F. to start bringing some holiday cheer to our four legged friends.
Join the Salvation Army in their 100 year tradition and become a bell ringer this holiday season. The money collected goes towards housing the homeless, feeding the hungry and helping to free people from addiction. This is also a great volunteer gig that your children can participate in with you.
Visit the Elderly
The holidays can be a very lonely time for some, so why not spread some holiday joy with Maui’s homebound seniors. One of the best gifts that you can give is your time and the great thing is that your time is free! Connect with Na Hoaloha – Neighbors helping Neighbors and start making a difference in someone’s life today.

Holiday Food Deliveries
Did you know that St. Theresa’s church cooks food daily that gets delivered to homebound individual’s everyday? The only ways these meals get delivered are by volunteers. All it takes is 2 hours a week and a car to help feed Maui residents who are in need.
The Spirit of Giving
If you don’t have time to seek out a non-profit organization this holiday season, then you can always just do something on your own. One of the most generous gifts you can give is to the children of Maui whose families can’t afford gifts. Donate to a local toy drive or find an angel tree and buy a gift for a child.
