Paul has been volunteering with Maui Nui Botanical Gardens for 10 years as part of MNBG’s Weed & Pot Club. The MNBG Staff relies heavily on this group to help with maintenance of our 6-acre native Hawaiian garden, as well as to propagate native plants in our nursery facility. Paul almost always arrives at MNBG with a delicious home-maid pie or chilled fruit to share with his fellow volunteers. Paul has an innate leadership ability and a steadiness that we have relied upon time and again. For the last 2 years, Paul has served the most hours of all MNBG volunteers, with over 130 hours served each year. He is always there to lend a hand before, during, and after all MNBG community events. Paul’s love for native plants and volunteer service has gone formally unrecognized for far too long. We are extremely appreciative to see him receive this honor.
