Happy National Volunteer Week, everyone! This is a very special week for nonprofits and their volunteers around the nation. To celebrate, we’d like to honor a special volunteer hero in our community: Kevin Harrington, a longtime volunteer at the Haliimaile Community Garden.

Volunteer Spotlight: Kevin Harrington

Kevin is not just a volunteer, he’s an invaluable leader. A volunteer at Haliimaile Community Garden for over 8 years, Kevin has taken on some challenging tasks, especially facility repairs and maintenance. From constructing compost bin wells to clearing and tilling the land, he’s never shied away from hard work for the benefit of the community.

More recently, Kevin has taken on a leadership role as president of the board. As president, Kevin puts his experience in the film industry to good use. His extensive development, coordination and management experience has helped Haliimaile Community Garden grow in its ability to serve its gardens, its volunteers, and the Maui community.

According to Lori Feroldi, treasurer and secretary of Hailiimaile Community Gardens, “Kevin exemplifies the garden’s Laulima Volunteer Program, a team builder who is always there willing to lend a hand, lead a project, and build community spirit.” Mahalo Kevin!

Mahalo nui loa to all of our volunteers in Maui county!
