Our community is made better by people like this. Mahalo!“I have been volunteering for Maui Rescue Mission for only about 2 months now and find the service they provide our homeless on Maui amazing. They have a no questions, no pressure, just a ‘how can I help’ attitude with the men, women and families who come for help. They show our homeless who are struggling in so many ways love, respect, and kindness with NO judgment.Maui Rescue Mission provides: laundry – wash, dry and fold laundry service, clean and hygienic showers and bathroom, mail service, clothing, hyenine products, first aid supplies, electricity to charge phones, Wi-Fi, and a place people can ask for help. When they ask Scott for help, he will try to find the service or aid they need – may that be a call to a respective service, advice, a promise he will see what he could do to help, or maybe just to listen and HEAR them. Scott also partners with other agencies to provide a meal and other services while we are set up.We just met a family at outreach– a husband and wife with 5 children living in 2 cars. He recently had a heart attack and cannot work. The wife has to stay with them to take care of him and the children, so she cannot work either. When they came to Maui Rescue Mission we provided them with clothes, first aid, hygiene items and a free meal. We found out their children’s sizes and got clothes and items to help them – ages 5 and 14. Since we usually have only adult sizes, we went to fill their needs so that the following week we had those items for them. The big plus is we also had a tent for them! A tent is considered ‘gold’ in our donations stock, so we were so glad we could bless them with it! They left with a 9 person tent and 2 sleeping bags. It truly felt like God was at work at that moment.”—Sue H., a volunteer for the past 2 monthsWe are specifically in need of more Monday volunteers, like Sue, to help us offer laundry services and clean the showers in Kihei.Interested in becoming a volunteer and experiencing life-transformation? HandsOn Maui - County of Maui Volunteer Center
Do you enjoy sharing information with others? Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary is looking for volunteers to serve as visitor center docents. Learn all you need to know, then educate others. 🐋 Volunteers go through a training and shadowing process to work in the visitor center, so typically at least a 6 month commitment is preferred.More information at handsonmaui.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=709685 ...
